Salt and De-Icing Service in Allentown, PA
Salt & De-Icing · Lehigh Valley, PA
Treatment for Ice on Commercial Pavement
ASRE provides salt and de-icing service for commercial parking lots, entrances and walkways in Allentown and across the Lehigh Valley. Pre-storm treatment and salting after plowing help address ice where customers, employees and residents travel. Service is available through seasonal contracts or on-demand arrangements for your property.
Moisture left after plowing can freeze on the pavement. Include snow pile meltwater, shaded walkways and falling overnight temperatures in your winter service plan. ASRE pairs salting with commercial snow removal or provides treatment on its own. Tell us where you have seen recurring ice and which doors or lanes need priority. Call 610-797-3212 for a free estimate and to discuss the service arrangement.

Areas Included in a Salting Plan
The treatment plan follows the paved areas and access points identified for your property.
- Pre-storm salting for pavement before snow and ice arrive
- Parking lot treatment after the main plowing work
- Drive aisle salting along the routes vehicles use
- Building entrance treatment where customers and staff approach
- Walkway and sidewalk treatment along regular pedestrian routes
- Attention to ramps and loading areas with recurring ice
- Return treatment for areas affected by overnight refreezing
How it works
How to Set Up De-Icing Service
- 01
Identify trouble spots
Show us the shaded pavement, low areas and places where snowmelt crosses a walkway or drive aisle. Include your busiest entrances and the routes employees use before the building opens.
- 02
Define the treatment areas
Discuss parking lots, pedestrian paths, ramps and loading access as separate parts of the plan. A marked property layout helps distinguish areas needing treatment from planted beds or surfaces outside the service agreement.
- 03
Choose the service arrangement
ASRE offers seasonal contracts and on-demand service. Ask how salting fits with plowing, whether pre-storm treatment suits your property, and how to request on-call service between scheduled visits.
- 04
Address snow and ice together
After plowing, salting targets remaining moisture and ice on the agreed surfaces. Keep the location of snow piles in the discussion because melting piles sometimes send water back across cleared pavement.
- 05
Discuss refreezing concerns
Tell ASRE when a previously cleared area becomes icy again. Further treatment depends on conditions and your service arrangement. One application might not cover the entire storm.

For Commercial Lots and Pedestrian Access
This service fits businesses, HOAs, churches, schools and other commercial properties with paved areas people need to use during winter. A retail lot needs attention along parking aisles and customer entrances. A school or church also needs a clear discussion of walkways and gathering times. At multi-unit properties, shared paths and building access belong in the same plan as vehicle lanes. ASRE serves Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus, Macungie, Whitehall and surrounding Lehigh Valley areas. Bring your operating hours and known ice locations to the estimate so the plan reflects how the property is used.
Project example
An Allentown Company With Snow and Ice Service
Advanced Snow Removal and Excavating LLC was established in Allentown in 2001. ASRE is locally owned and owner operated, and is a member of the Snow & Ice Management Association, known as SIMA. Its commercial winter services include plowing, salting and de-icing, walkway clearing and snow pile management. Those services give property managers a way to discuss pavement treatment and snow placement with the same company instead of treating each problem as a separate job.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Need something else? Give us a call.
Does salting replace plowing?
No. Plowing moves accumulated snow, and salting addresses ice or moisture left on the pavement. Treating a covered parking lot does not remove the volume of snow blocking parking spaces or entrances. For commercial properties with both problems, discuss a combined service plan so plowing, pile placement and treatment support the same access plan.
Can I request salting without a snow removal contract?
ASRE offers on-demand service as well as seasonal contracts, and salting is available on its own or alongside commercial snow removal. Call 610-797-3212 with your location and the areas needing treatment. Confirm availability, the work you need and the service arrangement for a visit to this property.
Why does pavement freeze again after it has been cleared?
Snow piles melt, drainage carries water onto pavement, and wet surfaces freeze when temperatures drop. Shaded sections often behave differently from open parking areas. Tell ASRE where refreezing occurs and whether it follows a particular meltwater path. That information helps frame the treatment request and the placement of snow during future plowing.
Does salt work in every temperature?
Salt becomes less effective as temperatures fall, especially in extreme cold. Pavement temperature, precipitation and the amount of ice also affect results. Ice can persist or return after a salt application. Keep checking the areas people use and contact ASRE if conditions change or ice remains after treatment.
What should I provide when requesting an estimate?
Share the property address, a layout of paved areas, the entrances you use and your operating hours. Identify ramps, delivery areas and any recurring ice near drains or snow piles. Say whether the request is for a seasonal arrangement, a single treatment or salting alongside plowing. Estimates are free, and your service agreement should identify the areas covered.
Is pre-storm salting worth discussing?
Pre-storm treatment helps make it harder for ice to bond to pavement, but weather conditions still determine how the surface behaves. It belongs in a broader discussion of plowing, walkway clearing and treatment after precipitation. Ask ASRE about pre-storm salting suited to your property and the expected storm.
