Prepare the Ground for the Next Phase
ASRE prepares residential and commercial sites for construction, concrete, pools and hardscape work in Allentown and the Lehigh Valley. Work includes removing existing material, excavating, grading and preparing a stone base where the project calls for it. A site visit identifies what the next phase needs before work begins.
The finished project determines the preparation. A driveway needs a base shaped for the surface and vehicle use. A pool area needs excavation, drainage planning and room for surrounding concrete. A retaining wall changes elevations and where material must be moved. ASRE handles those related services, so discuss the whole project during the estimate. Bring drawings, measurements and any known utility information. That helps us give you an accurate estimate.

Site Work Matched to the Planned Build
Your estimate identifies the preparation tasks needed for the structure or surface you intend to install.
- Removal of existing pavement and concrete within the work area
- Demolition of old structures included in your project plan
- Excavation to the depth required for planned construction
- Grading ground to suit the layout and drainage
- Placing and leveling stone base for the next phase
- Preparing areas for footings, concrete slabs and utility lines
- Coordinating pool, retaining wall and walkway preparation work
How it works
From Existing Conditions to a Prepared Site
- 01
Review the planned construction
Start with what you intend to build, including dimensions, elevations and access requirements. Identify which contractor needs the prepared ground next and what information they require for their part of the work.
- 02
Walk the existing site
Discuss old slabs, obstructions, drainage patterns and the route equipment will use to reach the area. A site visit helps separate removal work from excavation and identifies nearby surfaces you intend to keep.
- 03
Plan the site preparation
Agree on the areas needing removal, excavation, grading and base placement. In Pennsylvania, contact PA One Call 811 before digging; utility marking and project requirements belong in the preparation sequence.
- 04
Remove material and shape the ground
ASRE handles the agreed removal and earthwork for the planned footprint. Preparation should follow the intended elevations and drainage layout rather than simply making the ground appear level.
- 05
Connect the next phase
Review the prepared area in relation to the concrete, pool, wall or utility work that follows. Clarify any remaining work so a clearing or rough-grading task is not mistaken for a completed construction base.

For Residential Builds and Commercial Site Improvements
Site preparation fits homeowners planning a pool, patio, driveway, wall or addition, and commercial owners rebuilding parking, recreation or access areas. Builders also need preparation tied to the dimensions and elevations of the proposed work. ASRE serves Allentown and surrounding Lehigh Valley communities, including Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus, Macungie and Whitehall. Tell us whether another contractor will handle the next phase or whether you want ASRE to include concrete and related work. Plan ground preparation around what you intend to build and whether the site is empty or already developed.
Project example
Preparation for a Commercial Campground Rebuild
ASRE's commercial campground project in the Poconos included demolition, site preparation and grading before the recreation-area concrete and hardscape work. The project involved retaining walls, steps, walkways and 14,000 square feet of broom-finished concrete seating and circulation area. Preparation supported a defined construction layout with several connected features. It is a practical example of why clearing, elevations and the finished surface need to be considered together at the start of a site-work project.

Grading
Reshape ground around buildings, entryways and proposed surfaces. Review runoff paths, fixed elevations and the related wall or drainage work needed for your property.
Learn moreTrenching
Dig routes for water, sewer, drainage, plumbing and footing work. Define the installation requirements, utility coordination, backfill and surface restoration before opening the ground.
Learn moreDemolition
Remove failing walls, masonry, slabs or other existing construction within defined limits. Plan what stays and which excavation, footers or replacement work follows removal.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Need something else? Give us a call.
What is the difference between clearing and site preparation?
Clearing removes debris, old pavement, overgrowth or other obstructions from the area. Site preparation goes further by addressing excavation, elevations, drainage and the base needed for planned construction. An open lot is not automatically ready for a slab or foundation. Tell ASRE what comes next so the estimate identifies the preparation needed after clearing is complete.
Do you prepare sites for pools?
Pool excavation and pool-area site preparation are part of ASRE's excavation services. The project discussion should cover the pool footprint, surrounding deck or walkways, access and drainage. ASRE's campground work included preparation for an in-ground commercial pool area. Your own pool design and site conditions determine the excavation and related work; the campground example does not determine what every residential project includes.
Does site preparation include removing an old slab?
It does when concrete removal is included in the agreed work. ASRE breaks, removes and hauls old concrete and also handles demolition as part of broader site work. Identify the slab limits and any nearby concrete that needs to remain. Discuss removal and the replacement base together so the estimate covers more than getting the old surface out.
Should the entire site be made level?
Not necessarily. The planned surface, building elevations and drainage determine the grade. A level-looking yard might direct water toward an entry or leave a low spot beside a slab. Site preparation should follow the project layout and a workable path for water. ASRE also provides grading and resloping when shaping the site is a separate or larger part of the job.
What information helps you estimate the work?
Provide the property address, the planned use, approximate dimensions and any project drawings you have. Identify access restrictions, known utilities, old structures and places where water collects. Say whether your request includes removal, grading, a stone base or the next concrete phase. A site visit helps confirm the work needed, and ASRE offers free estimates for residential and commercial projects.
