Which excavation service should I ask for?

Do you work on both residential and commercial sites?

Can you handle sewer, water or septic installation?

Do I need utility marking before excavation?

A utility locate is part of excavation planning; it is not a substitute for explaining the project route and existing site conditions. Identify nearby structures and surfaces you intend to keep along with any lines you know cross the area.
Does excavation include the finished concrete or driveway?
Only when that installation is included in the agreed estimate. Excavation and base preparation create the ground conditions for the next phase, while concrete placement produces the surface. ASRE offers residential, commercial and stamped concrete, so both phases are available for discussion. Ask which removal, grading, base, backfill and replacement tasks are included so the quote covers the finished driveway or walkway.
What should I bring to the site visit?
Bring the property address, plans or approximate dimensions, photos of problem areas and information from any installer working after excavation. Identify access restrictions, old structures, utility routes and where rainwater travels. If you are planning a replacement surface, describe its intended use and finish. ASRE offers free estimates.
