Remove the Existing Work With the Rebuild in View

ASRE handles demolition for residential and commercial projects in Allentown and the Lehigh Valley. Work includes selective removal of masonry and slabs, failing retaining walls, old pavement and recreation areas being rebuilt. The estimate identifies what comes out, what stays and which excavation or concrete work follows the removal.

A demolition request should describe the replacement as well as the existing structure. Keeping part of a wall, roof or slab changes the removal boundaries and how the next phase is planned. ASRE also performs excavation, grading and concrete work, so those tasks belong in the conversation when you need a rebuild. Call 610-797-3212 for a free estimate and explain the areas you want removed so you know what the job includes.

Plan Your Demolition and Removal Work

Plan Your Demolition and Removal Work

ASRE reviews the existing construction and confirms the removal limits at the site visit.

  • Selective demolition of masonry within the agreed work area
  • Removal of slab sections before new construction begins
  • Taking out failing retaining walls before a rebuild
  • Tear-out of old patios, walkways and driveway surfaces
  • Removal work for commercial recreation areas being redeveloped
  • Loading and hauling debris from the demolition work
  • Planning excavation and grading for the following phase

How it works

How Demolition Connects to New Construction

  1. 01

    Identify what must come out

Walk the existing area with ASRE and point out the features you want removed. Include the intended replacement so removal limits relate to the new work instead of stopping at a rough description of the old structure.

  2. 02

    Identify what must remain

Mark adjacent slabs, walls, roof elements and access routes you want preserved. Selective demolition needs a clear distinction between the removed parts and the existing construction supporting the planned rebuild.

  3. 03

    Review site conditions

Discuss utilities, access for removal and the space available for handling debris. Confirm any applicable permit or other project requirements before work starts.

  4. 04

Remove and haul the agreed material

ASRE performs the demolition within the agreed boundaries and hauls debris from that work. The estimate should name the structures and materials included. Removal is limited to those agreed areas, not the entire property.

  5. 05

Prepare for the next contractor or phase

Review whether excavation, new footers, grading or replacement concrete follows. A removed structure leaves a different site condition from a finished base, so include the required next work in the estimate.

For Home Rebuilds and Commercial Redevelopment

For Home Rebuilds and Commercial Redevelopment

Demolition fits homeowners replacing a failing wall, rebuilding an entry or removing old concrete, and commercial owners changing an existing outdoor or recreation area. ASRE plans demolition around the size of the job and the structures you need to keep. We work with residential and commercial clients in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus, Macungie, Whitehall and surrounding areas. Bring photos and explain what you plan to build next. If you are unsure which parts of an existing structure should remain, make that an estimate discussion instead of defining removal boundaries before the site is reviewed.

Project example

Selective Removal for an Entry and Wall Rebuild

ASRE's Lehigh Valley retaining wall and entryway project required removal of a failing wall system and selective demolition of masonry and slab components. Portions of the existing roof structure were reused in the rebuild. The crew installed new footers, rebuilt the retaining walls and regraded the area for natural drainage away from the lower-level entry. The project also maintained lower-level vehicle access. The demolition focused on the areas needed for the rebuild and left the other existing features in place.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most. Need something else? Give us a call.

What does selective demolition mean?

Selective demolition removes specific parts of existing construction while keeping other parts in place. It is useful when a rebuild needs a slab section, masonry or wall taken out without removing the entire surrounding area. ASRE's entryway project included selective masonry and slab removal with roof-structure reuse. Your site visit should identify the exact boundaries and the features that remain.

Do you remove retaining walls before replacing them?

Failing retaining wall removal and replacement are within ASRE's work. A wall affects nearby grades, drainage and supported ground, so discuss the whole rebuild before requesting removal alone. The lower-level entry project combined wall removal, new footers, rebuilding and regrading. The requirements at your property determine which of those tasks belong in the estimate.

Is concrete tear-out part of demolition?

Yes, concrete slabs and pavement are part of ASRE's removal services. The company also has a dedicated concrete removal service for driveways, patios, steps, walkways and other surfaces. If your project is primarily a slab replacement, discuss that removal and the new pour together. Broader demolition might also include masonry, walls or other existing construction.

Do you haul away the demolition debris?

ASRE hauls debris from its demolition work. Identify the materials and areas covered during the estimate, particularly if the site also contains unrelated debris or leftover building material. Confirm which demolition and cleanup tasks are included in your estimate so you know how the site will be left when work is complete.

Will demolition leave the site ready for a new slab?

Not automatically. The ground beneath removed concrete or a structure might still need excavation, grading and a prepared base. ASRE provides those services and pours replacement concrete, but each needs to be part of the agreed work. Tell us what comes next so the estimate distinguishes demolition from construction preparation and the final installed surface.
